London - Westfield

If you don't know what to do on a rainy day in London, you could go to Westfield, which is a big mall which has all the shops you want/need. In London, there are two Westfields, one in West London and one East of the city. The latter opened only a few months ago and is the biggest urban shopping centre in Europe. It is located in this years Olympic park and it will be one of the biggest tourist attractions of this summer's Olympic Games.

I've personally only been to the Westfield in the West of London. I also think the new Westfield in East London should be called Eastfield to make it all less confusing, haha. I think I can say I'm a Westfield expert because that's where I work twice a week!

First of all, I love Westfield because of its design. It feels like you're outside because of the high ceilings and daylight. The Village is the part of Westfield where you can find high end brands like Miu Miu, Tiffany's, Jo Malone, Mulberry and Prada. On the second floor of the Village you can find 'younger' shops like The Kooples, Maje and Toy Watch.

In the other part of the mall you can find any clothing shops you want: Topshop, Zara, H&M, Hollister, Gilly Hicks, All Saints, Bimba & Lola, Bershka, Juicy Couture, Lipsy, River Island, True Religion... only to name a few.

They also have the best collection of make up- and beauty stores: Lush, Inglot, M.A.C., The Body Shop, Kiko, Boots, Dermalogica, Kiehl's, Jo Malone, Superdrug, Make Up Store.. all under one roof!

If you're not interested in clothes or make-up, you check out the Apple store, HMV, House of Fraser, Nike, Build-a-Bear, Paperchase (a personal favorite) or Waitrose.

However shopping isn't the only activity available at this mall; you can also eat, get a manicure, a water massage, go to the gym, get a hair cut or watch a movie at the theatre. The options are endless and you could really spend a whole day there. I can't even imagine how big the other Westfield must be!

I definitely recommend going to Westfield during the week as it gets quite busy during the weekend. The shops are open till 9 pm on week days and till 10 on Thursday and Friday.  The easiest way to get there is by Tube. It's right on the Central Line and you need to get off at Sheperd's Bush which is still in zone 1. The other, new and gigantic, Westfield is also on the Central Line, Stratford City stop.
